Project Description 

Civil Sydney was engaged by Ausgrid for the supply and install of steel pile casing and installation only of Rocla Pre cast pole bases to allow the new transmission line between Medowie and Nelson Bay to be completed.

The project involved two aspects, installing 900-1200dia steel pile casings with our Bauer RTG piling rig, then pendulum drilling of the casings to depth to allow poles to be stood by Ausgrd. On the second half of the project precast pile bases were pitched using one of our P&H 50t crawler cranes and then driven to depth with our Junttan PM20 rig. Augrid when then stand and bolt poles to the precast base units.

The project involved working in and around overhead wires with Ausgid Crews implementing temporary power outages while works were done as well as working within areas of the national park. Works were completed over a six month period as Ausgrid implemented outages and change overs of existing services.
